Growing Opportunities for Jordanian Women Owned and Led Businesses
In 2022, we conducted a Market Study and Positioning Strategy to identify areas for enhancing Jordanian women’s economic opportunities, including entrepreneurship and access to new markets, on behalf of the World Bank and the Government of Jordan.
Over a year we mapped women-owned and led businesses in Jordan to identify industries that offer opportunities, with a primary focus on exporting. The study included an assessment of existing and emerging global and regional consumer and demand trends, an assessment of trade and distribution, and the role of e-commerce as an alternative channel for broadening their brand and global outreach.
This study made evidence-based recommendations to policymakers, donors, service providers and financing institutions on pathways to improve women’s economic contribution and enhance their growth potential locally, regionally and internationally.
We presented the resulting recommendations and an action plan to the World Bank, Government of Jordan and the donor community, which has been used to design support programmes based on the actual needs of women-owned and led businesses.
