Analysing at-sea Migrant Smuggling Corridors

Expectation State was commissioned by Mixed Migration Centre Europe to conduct qualitative research on migrant smuggling trends and dynamics. This study focuses on three key migration routes, providing insights into the evolving challenges and mechanisms of irregular migration.

The research examines the English Channel crossing, exploring smuggling networks facilitating movement from Northern France and Belgium to the UK. It also analyses the Western Mediterranean and Atlantic routes, tracing migrant journeys to Spain, and the Central Mediterranean route, mapping the dynamics of crossings to Italy.

By shedding light on these critical migration corridors, this project aims to enhance understanding of smuggling networks, inform policy discussions, and contribute to more effective and evidence-based responses to smuggling.
