Verengai is an Expectation State Partner, leading our Digital portfolio.
Verengai possesses over 16 years of experience at the forefront of digital policy and innovation. Based in Harare, Zimbabwe, he previously served as the Senior Policy Advisor for Africa at the Internet Society. In this role he tackled critical issues like internet infrastructure, regulations, and privacy, all while fostering strong relationships with governments and regional organisations across Africa.
His passion extends beyond policy. As the Founder & Director of the Development Reality Institute (DRI Africa), he championed social innovation programs focused on climate change and sustainability. He also co-founded Golix, a company exploring the potential of blockchain technology.
This blend of policy acumen and entrepreneurial spirit qualifies him to navigate the ever-evolving digital landscape. He holds a Master’s degree specialising in Internet Governance, and has actively pursued continuous learning through advanced certificates in Artificial Intelligence, 5G, IoT and International project management.
He is a recognised innovator, having been featured on Quartz’s list of Top African Innovators and having been awarded with the Ashoka Fellowship and the Echoing Green Fellowship.
