Tom is a communications and brand strategist, specialising in policy communications at Expectation State.
He founded communications firm Cast from Clay in the wake of the Brexit vote to drive greater engagement between policy elites and the general public. Cast from Clay works with think tanks, universities, and intergovernmental organisations in Western Europe and the United States, with clients like the UN, OECD, Atlantic Council, European Climate Foundation, and King’s College London.
Tom writes for trade and national media, most recently for City AM, PR Week, and Apolitical. He is regularly invited to speak on think tank communications, and communications more broadly. Venues have included Sandhurst, Henley Business School, the North American Think Tank Summit, a Cambridge Union Presidential Debate, and a number of think tanks in the US and UK.
Before founding Cast from Clay, Tom had stints at Edelman, Reputation Leaders, and Black Swan. His corporate client list includes KPMG, Syngenta, Toyota, Aviva, Unilever, PepsiCo, Vodafone, PayPal, and ManpowerGroup. He has conducted communications research and strategies for multinational brands on every continent bar Antarctica.
